Unicorn Poop Soap Made with Shea Butter and Unscented

$7.00

This cold process soap was the idea of my 9 year old! She asked me for unicorn poop and told me what colours I should use. I left this bar unscented and used only natural colourants. There is added Shea butter in the recipe for a hydrating bar of soap.

Why Your Skin Will Love It

By skipping synthetic fragrances and relying on mineral-rich earth elements, this type of bar focuses entirely on skin nutrition and gentle cleansing.

Unlike many mass-produced cleansers that strip the skin of its natural oils, a cold process bar with a high shea butter content acts as a humectant. It is rich in stearic and oleic acids, which help reinforce the skin’s natural lipid barrier. This creates a creamy, stable lather that leaves the skin feeling supple rather than "squeaky" or tight.

The use of natural clays and plant powders provides more than just a rustic aesthetic; each brings a unique functional benefit to the wash:

Indigo Powder: Derived from the Indigofera tinctoria plant, it is traditionally prized for its soothing properties. It provides a deep, moody hue while remaining exceptionally gentle on sensitive areas.

French Pink Clay: A combination of red and white clays, this is considered the mildest of all clays. It works to improve skin circulation and gently exfoliate without causing dryness, making it ideal for delicate or mature skin.

Yellow & Purple Brazilian Clays: These kaolin-based clays are packed with minerals like magnesium and copper.

Yellow clay helps draw out impurities and refresh the pores.

Purple clay is known for its anti-aging profile, helping to maintain a firm, toned skin texture.

Scent Profile

“Unscented" doesn't always mean "zero smell"—it means no added fragrance.

By leaving the bar unscented, the natural aroma of the saponified oils and the earthy scent of the clays take center stage.

Why use Natural clays in Cold Process Soap?

Unlike synthetic micas or pigments, clays are bio-active, meaning they interact with the skin while providing earthy, sophisticated hues.

1. Gentle Detoxification & Deep Cleansing

Clays are naturally porous and possess a unique ionic charge. When used in soap, they act like a magnet for impurities:

Adsorption: They pull excess oils, stale sebum, and environmental toxins from the pores without stripping the skin's protective lipid barrier.

Refining Texture: Regular use helps to minimize the appearance of pores and smooth out the skin's surface.

2. Enhanced Lather & "Slip"

Beyond the skin benefits, clays significantly improve the tactile experience of the soap bar:

Silkiness: Clays like Kaolin or Rhassoul add a signature "slip" to the lather, making the soap feel (creamy) and luxurious.

Shaving Support: This added slip makes clay-infused soaps excellent for shaving, as it allows the razor to glide easily over the skin, reducing irritation and nicks.

3. Natural Color Mastery

For an artisanal brand, clays provide a palette that synthetic dyes cannot replicate. They offer a muted, nature-inspired aesthetic that aligns with eco-friendly values.

Variations: From the soft rose of French Pink Clay to the deep, mineral-rich Purple Brazilian Clay, these colors remain stable during the high-pH environment of saponification (the soap-making process).

Consistency: Unlike some botanical powders (like beet or hibiscus) which can turn brown or grey in cold process soap, clays stay true to their hue.

⚠️ Product Cautions

For External Use Only: While the bar may look and smell great, this bar is for skin application only. Do not ingest.

Patch Test Recommended: If you have sensitive skin or allergies, we recommend performing a small patch test on your inner forearm before full-body use.

Surface Safety: Because this soap contains natural oils, it may make your tub or shower floor slightly slippery. Use caution when stepping in and out.

Care Instructions

Because this soap is made the old-fashioned way, it’s a little different than the "big brand" bars. This bar contains natural glycerin, which attracts moisture. To extend the life of your soap, always use a draining soap dish and allow the bar to dry completely between uses.

Storage: Not using it yet? Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
